Dreadmyst Paladin Tank Build
The Paladin in Dreadmyst is a frontline melee class built around durability, control, and consistency. It performs well solo, but truly shines in group content where it serves as the only dedicated tank class in the game, making your build decisions far more important than they first appear.
Unlike traditional MMORPGs, progression in Dreadmyst is driven by how you invest your earned experience rather than automatic levelling. Every enemy you kill gives you XP, and every stat or skill upgrade is a deliberate choice. Poor investments will slow your progress and weaken your survivability, while smart ones will dramatically improve your ability to hold aggro, mitigate damage, and stay alive under pressure.

Dreadmyst Paladin Tank Stats
Dreadmyst does not use traditional levelling. Every enemy killed and quest completed grants experience, and all progression comes from how you invest that EXP into stats and skills.
Early on, your priority should be simple:
- Push Strength and Courage to level 10
- Then begin spreading EXP into your core stats and weapon skills
The investment values shown here are EXP invested, not your final stat totals. Your actual stats will appear much higher due to scaling from gear and skills.
When spending EXP, open your character sheet and select “Spend EXP”. Hover over the “+” icon next to a stat to see how much XP has been invested, this is the number that matters, not the total stat value shown on the main character page.
Misunderstanding this system is one of the most common mistakes new players make, and it often leads to weak survivability and wasted EXP. Follow the investment values listed here and you’ll avoid those traps entirely.
Paladin Tank Investment
- 1200 Health
- 500 Mana
- 100 STR
- 75 AGI
- 100 COU
- 400 Dodge
- 300 Block Rating
- 200~ Resists
- 75 Swords (or other preferred weapon)
- 50 Shields
Apply extra points wherever you like such as Melee Critical and Lockpicking. Investment may change depending on your gear and things like INT and more Resist can be useful later.
Dreadmyst Paladin Tank Skills
Skills in Dreadmyst must be manually invested into and scale directly with your stats, gear, and total skill investment. Because of this scaling, the effective values on your character will vary from player to player — the skills listed below are presented without fixed numbers for that reason.
To unlock your full toolkit, you’ll need to locate and use the Paladin skill books found throughout the world. Once unlocked, these skills should be prioritised alongside your core stat investments to ensure consistent threat generation and survivability.
⚠️ Important Investment Warning
Avoid investing XP into Charge, Retribution, and Wings of Freedom. Their impact does not justify the XP cost, especially early and mid-game. That experience is far better spent strengthening your core defensive skills, utility abilities, and primary stats.

Dreadmyst Paladin Tank Gear
Gear in Dreadmyst has several layered systems, and the strength of an item is determined by how well those layers work together. A lower-tier item with the right affixes will often outperform a higher-tier piece with poor stats.
Gear is upgraded using Orbs, allowing items to be enchanted from their base level up to +10. Enchanting increases stats but can fail, dropping the item down a tier and reducing its power. Pushing upgrades too aggressively without backups can make your character weaker rather than stronger.
For a Paladin Tank, prioritise gear with the following properties:
Gear Tier: Godly (Holy is acceptable with near-perfect stats)
Quality: Pristine
Material: Titanium
Gems: Strength
Suffix 1: Dodge, Block, Weapon Skill, Weapon Value, Health, Mana, Melee Critical can be useful also.
Suffix 2: Elephant (best), Lion (secondary)
Strength and Courage scaling is mandatory for tanking. Gear without one of these suffixes will always underperform long-term.
One key breakpoint to understand is Armor Value. Your goal is to reach 300 Armor Value as early as possible. In most cases, a single piece with an Armor Value affix is enough. As gear is enchanted, Armor Value naturally increases, making additional Armor Value stats inefficient and eventually unnecessary on higher-tier gear.
This is one of the most commonly misunderstood parts of gearing in Dreadmyst and a major reason players feel tanky early, then suddenly don’t.
