‘Accolade’ ESO Dragonknight Hybrid Tank Build

Welcome to The Tank Club’s Accolade ESO Dragonknight Hybrid Tank!

Accolade is a Hybrid Dragonknight Damage Dealer Tank build designed for all content in ESO. This build allows you to comfortably complete solo, overland, and non-veteran group content by effectively combining tanking and damage, without the usual limitations of low damage output. While not intended for veteran and endgame content, this build excels in fast normal random dungeons, overland activities, and solo adventures.

‘Accolade’ ESO Dragonknight Hybrid Tank Information

With the Accolade build, you’ll easily solo overland content as a Damage Tank, tackling World Bosses, Delves, Quests, and Incursions. This build also enables you to complete solo Arenas such as Maelstrom Arena and Vateshran Hollows, even on veteran difficulty.

Accolade allows you to tank while dealing damage in Normal Dungeons, Random Dungeons, Normal Trials, Pledges, and Veteran & Hardmode Base Game Dungeons, as well as Dragonstar Arena and Blackrose Prison.

This build is also great for leveling in places like Skyreach, and if you really want to push its limits, it’s even possible to solo normal trials!

Accolade is perfect for players who primarily play Tank and want to explore new content while maintaining their tankiness. The DPS output of this build ranges from 35-50k, depending on rotation accuracy. All of this is achievable while also tanking and self-healing!

This build was inspired by Deltia’s Gaming, a source I followed when I started ESO. I used to run a similar build created by him many years ago.

‘Accolade’ ESO Dragonknight Hybrid Tank Core Essentials

Race

Attributes

64 Stamina

  • Race: I’m using a Nord for this build as I regularly tank Veteran Dungeon and Trial content. However, you can opt for another race based on your preferences.
  • Mundus Stone: Use The Shadow for increased Critical Damage to improve your DPS. For Dungeons/Trials, switch to The Atronach for additional Magicka Recovery. While a damage-oriented Mundus Stone is great, tanking and chaining enemies can be more challenging.
  • Attributes: Apply all Tri-Stat enchants on your gear to cover Health and Magicka needs, and allocate all attribute points into Stamina.
  • Food: Bewitched Sugar Skulls is excellent for both damage and tanking. If you’re struggling with resources, switch to Smoked Bear Haunch. Although it reduces max stats, it provides substantial Magicka and Stamina Recovery.
  • Potions: Use Tri-Stat potions for comprehensive recovery of all resources. Other potions aren’t necessary, as you already gain Major Brutality and Major Savagery from a Mythic item.

‘Accolade’ ESO Dragonknight Hybrid Tank Gear

Primary Set: Powerful Assault
This is a great Tank set that you likely already have. It provides Max Health, Max Stamina, Weapon Damage, and an additional Weapon Damage proc for both you and your group with one of your skills.

Secondary Set:

  • Order’s Wrath: A crafted set that boosts your damage.
  • Crimson Oath’s Rive: An alternative if you prefer to enhance group support, though it sacrifices some personal damage.

Monster Set:
We don’t use a Monster Set for this build due to the inclusion of a Mythic item. Instead, you can use any one piece of gear. Kra’gh is recommended for the additional penetration, increasing your DPS. For group content, you can switch to a piece that improves tanking.

Mythic Item: Oakensoul Ring
This powerful Mythic item provides a range of Major and Minor buffs but limits you to one bar. It’s perfect for this build as it enhances DPS, resistances, reduces incoming damage, accelerates Ultimate generation, and improves resource management, offering both DPS and survival benefits.

Armor Setup:
We use one Heavy piece on the Chest, one Light Armor piece, and the rest in Medium Armor for a 5/1/1 setup. This balance maximizes your stats and grants additional armor passives. Alternatively, you can use Heavy Legs and Helmet for a tankier setup, though it will reduce your damage output.

Traits and Enchants:
Given the Medium Armor benefits, we have low Block Cost, so we use Divines on all gear with Prismatic Defense enchants to maximize Magicka and Health without sacrificing Stamina. This setup provides similar Block Cost reduction to a Heavy Armor setup with full Sturdy traits.

Jewelry Traits:
Infused with Weapon Damage to boost your DPS. If you have trouble sustaining in group content, consider swapping one for Magicka Recovery.

One-Handed Weapon:
Sharpened with a Weapon Damage enchant.

Where to Obtain:

  • Powerful Assault – Tel Var Merchant or Guild Traders
  • Order’s Wrath – Crafted Set in High Isle

‘Accolade’ ESO Dragonknight Hybrid Tank How to Play

The main objective of this build is to be a Tank that can do damage.

  1. Enter combat with Pierce Armor to debuff the enemy (and taunt if you’re in group content)
  2. Throw Razor Caltrops to proc Powerful Assault and to cause AoE damage & Major Breach.
  3. On boss fights apply Venomous Claw – in group content chain all enemies onto your Caltrops to stack and taunt them.
  4. Cast Draw Essence for AoE damage and healing then use your Ultimate if you have it ready.
  5. Once everything is active, just Heavy Attack weave with Unrelenting Grip spam.
  6. Your main source of damage is Unrelenting Grip because it’s free against bosses, elite enemies and any target that has CC immunity.
  7. While all skills are running do the rotation of 2x Unrelenting Grip and 1x Draw Essence for damage.
  8. Use Draw Essence for healing as and when needed.
  9. Rotate using Potions and dropping Ultimate’s. You will regain your Ultimate quickly because of the Minor Heroism from Oakensoul but to maximise your resource gain, try to use an Ultimate, burn through resources then use a Potion and then back to the Ultimate.
