There are many Sword weapons in New World but often it’s a good idea to locate named weapons that can be farmed that have the guaranteed perks that you need rather than taking a chance on crafted or random looted weapons. This is a list of the top 5 Swords for Tanking in New World.

The perks you are looking for on a good Sword for a Tank in New World include:

• Bane Perk – either Ancient, Angry Earth, Corrupted or Lost
• Refreshing Move
• Thwarting Strikes (300+ STR)
• Enchanted (Under 300 STR)

There are some other good perks but those are the best ones – Lifestealing is good for some extra incoming healing and Keen is a decent perk when trying to do more DPS.

When you loot a named weapon, you need it to be 590 Gear Score so it can be upgraded, otherwise it’s not as good. When you upgrade a named weapon to 600 Gear Score it should turn gold and gain an additional perk.

This is a great all-round starter Sword that drops with two really good perks of Refreshing Move and Enchanted. There is also the Lifestealing perk which can be really nice for some extra incoming healing. It’s relatively easy to obtain by doing the Eternal Pool Elite Chest run in Reekwater and you’ll find this boss right at the end next to the last Elite Chest.

Location: The Eternal Pool – Reekwater

This Sword is more of an all-round DPS booster if you’re in that kind of situation. If you have 300+ STR the Trenchant Strikes will offer more heavy attack damage with the Keen perk for more crit chance and the really important Refreshing Move reducing your cooldowns. This one is found in Tempest’s Heart from the Headman Pang boss.

Really good Sword for those Corrupted Expeditions. It has 3 great perks that are especially good for those over 300 STR. The only downside is the DEX & STR. It could make it slightly more difficult to hit the 300 STR & 200 CON when using this depending on how you are setup.

Location: Valley of the Gods, Atum’s Way – Brimstone Sands

This is one of the best named drops with the Angry Earth perk, it’s not a great weapon as the Chain Void perk isn’t especially great but it at least has a good Bane and Refreshing Move.

Location: Stronghold Ravine, Virid Grotto – Reekwater

This is one of the best available Lost Bane Swords but it’s a bit harder to get than the others since it comes from chests and Expedition cache. The Mortal Energy perk isn’t the greatest, but the others are very good.
