Let’s take a look at the Blood Death Knight Tier Bonuses in the World of Warcraft 10.1 update!
Blood Death Knight is getting access to an interesting tier set that shores up some of our main weaknesses while amplifying our healing capabilities. There’s a little bit to go through here, so let’s talk about the new 10.1 tier.
2pc: Heart Strike and Blood Boil deal 20% increased damage and have a 10% chance to grant Vampiric Blood for 5s.
Vampiric Blood might not be the best defensive available to tanks but it is really good in the hands of experienced Blood Death Knight players, increasing healing and absorbs significantly, when played around properly it’s a strong cooldown, being able to proc Vampiric Blood is going to be good for Blood DK’s players at all levels, giving access to new blood players more healing and absorbs is going to allow people to ease into the spec a lot easier.
4pc: When you would gain Vampiric Blood you are infused with Vampiric Strength, granting you 10% Strength for 5s. Your Heart Strike and Blood Boil extend the duration of Vampiric Strength by 0.5s.
The 4pc synergizes well with the 2pc, a 10% Strength buff adds nicely to our Vampiric Blood cooldown and makes it better both offensively and defensively. With proper play you’ll be able to extend the Vampiric Strength buff keep up good uptime, while you can plan around your own Vampiric Blood usage for this buff, since the Vampiric Blood proc is random, it’s important to optimize your rotation so you always have a heart strike or blood boil ready to go, burning through runes or spamming blood boil will end in a net loss up possible Vampiric Blood uptime.
To be noted this tier set bonus currently on PTR does not work with Umbilicus Eternus, my thoughts being they didn’t want to make a capstone talent mandatory for gameplay, which is probably for the better but the interaction could have added a lot defensively for the spec.
At the end of the day, this tier set bonus isn’t anything amazing like the Season 3 Shadowlands god level tier, but it is strong, plays well into what we’re good at and helps out blood’s AoE quite a bit.
