Overpowered AoE Ravendawn Blackguard Build

Ravendawn Blackguard Build Information

This Ravendawn Blackguard Build is a monster AoE damage build, essentially a Mage Tank with great survival and self-healing potential combined with high DPS! If you want to be able to kill big stacks of enemies, get big exp gains and survive being surrounded by enemies and taking a beating then this Blackguard build is the one for you!

Ravendawn Blackguard Build Weapons & Gear

Weapons – Stave

For this build you have Staves which is the perfect weapon for the Blackguard. The Stave weapon skill increases the damage of your abilities but also increases their cost.

On your weapon you should aim for Intelligence as your Primary and Spell Power or Impact as your secondary. When adding additional stats go for Vitality or Wisdom. Always make sure to prioritise upgrading your weapon before your armor.

Armor – Plate

Full plate armor is the best option, especially early game as the increased health, healing received and weapon defense are extremely useful. You’re going to be surrounded by enemies so you need to be able to survive taking a lot of damage. Utilise gear with Intelligence as the primary stat and if you get also get it with Vitality or Wisdom too then that will be great. Secondary stats again should be Spell Power or Impact.

Jewellery & Trinket

Buy and use Jewellery from the Rangers Company shop that matches the stats you’re looking for and your active level. Always look for anything that improves Attack Power, Intelligence and Wisdom as your main focus. There are many useful trinkets, for example if you are fighting Pirates then you must use the Pirate’s Hook, and there are a number of other trinkets which give a nice passive boost to damage or defense.

Consumables & Food

This often goes under the radar but invest into some food items that increase Attack Power such as Cookies or Deluxe Cookies. They can be used alongside drinks such as Rum, Vodka or Whiskey which increase your Health and Mana regen. Then you have meals such as Charred Meat Kebabs which boost your Intelligence.

It’s a good idea to craft some Whetstones, even the weakest ones give you 2 extra attack power but stronger ones can give a lot more.

Enchantments

By completing some stages of your journal for artifacts you’ll gain access to some NPCs. These NPC’s allow you to buy gear enchantments, there is a special area in Seabreeze – Harbor Island which you unlock when you get the Lost Earring artifact piece, this allows you to cross the bridge and buy enchantments from the NPC for 9k silver. This are totally worth buying, you can equip one on each gear piece and each one will give a +4 Intelligence boost.

Ravendawn Blackguard Build Stats & Attributes

The main focus is Intelligence and Wisdom.

Ideally try using 80% of your points as INT and 20% as Wisdom, but customise this as best for you.

Using some points into Vitality can also be helpful.

Secondary stats need to focus on Spell Power but you may reach the soft cap – utilising Impact as a secondary stat is also very useful as this will increase your critical damage, which is great when you use the Hot Headed passive.

Ravendawn Blackguard Build Skills & Passives

To create a Blackguard you must use the archetypes Protection, Spiritual and Wizardry.

Ravendawn Blackguard
Protection Spiritual Wizardry
Active Skills

  • Bash (not used)
  • Spirits Resolve – Main burst healing skill, even better heal when used on low health and using the correct Ravencard.
  • Spirit Shield – Increased defense, decreases attack power however. With Ravencard it will return a lot of damage back at enemies.
  • Blessed Earth – Gives 8% spell defense and 5% spell power damage as an AoE around the character, with the Ravencard it will substantially increase the damage.
  • Provoke – Taunt skill which is used because of the Ravencards, these will either increase the enemies Attack Power but also lower their defense by a larger value or increase your defensive power depending on the amount of enemies.
  • Unbreakable – Absorbs 50% of all damage for 5 seconds, with the Ravencard it stops you being healed for 5 seconds but returns all the damage it absorbed back to the enemies.

Passives

  • Divine Purpose – When any healing is gained, it provides additional defense power.
  • Guardian – When below 80% health, has a chance to heal 1% of total health every seconds for 10 seconds.
  • Giant’s Blood – Increased max health.
Active Skills

  • Cyclone – Main spammable skill which can also hit up to 3 targets, this damage is increased with the correct Ravencard.
  • Regenerate – A solid Healing over time skill which also helps to stack extra Defense Power from the Divine Purpose passive. Ravencard will increase the healing when Barrier is active.
  • Barrier – Creates a large shield and when its broken or expires it explodes doing AoE damage.
  • Air Aura – Gives a 2s wind aura which then gives a 200% shield based on the amount of damage received in those 2s, the Ravencard will return a % of basic attack damage back to the enemy.
  • Windstrike Spirit – Basically makes the enemy do damage to themselves when you damage you and the Ravencard generates a shield based on the damage done by this skill.
  • Haste – Increases your haste by 50% and gives 50 Aether, basically increases attack speed and reduces cast times and GBC. With the Ravencard it will make basic attacks and skills shock enemies and deal adaptive damage while haste is active.

Passives

  • Celerity – 10% reduced skill cooldowns
  • Wind Mastery – Additional source of Haste
  • Lingering Impact – Increased duration of healing over time, useful to maxing the Divine Purpose stacks with Regenerate.
Active Skills

  • Fireball (not used) If playing single target then do use this to reduce the cooldown on Pyroblast the Ravencard.
  • Erupt – Deals damage and applies deep burning stacks, this is a single target skill so it won’t often be used.
  • Combustion – AoE damage and a stun, useful for stopping enemies that are channelling attacks, especially when you have multiple stacked up.
  • Flame Tornado – The bread and butter of the Blackguard. Place this on yourself when enemies are stacked around, then use you weapon skill (R) and burn them down.
  • Meteor Strike – Massive mega damage AoE skill, use this at the end of the rotation to clear all enemies. With the Ravencard it will do a 6 tick AoE damage too.
  • Pyroblast – If playing in single target situations take this in place of Meteor Strike to give you a high damage single target skill.

Passives

  • Havoc – crit strikes have a chance to increase your spell power.
  • Amplification – Basically the same as the Stave weapon skill but slightly weaker and it will stack with it. Skills cost more but do more damage.
  • Hot Headed – When dealing damage if it does not crit, gain extra crit chance until you crit. This is why we use Impact gear so we can get a bigger hit once this activates a guaranteed crit.

Skill Rotation

  1. Pre-fight use Barrier and keep up Regeneration while running around & stacking up enemies.
  2. Once stacked, use Spirit Shield, Blessed Earth & Provoke to buff defense and debuff enemies.
  3. Use Air Aura for a shield, followed by Flame Tornado combined with weapon skill Mana Overload to unleash huge damage.
  4. Finish off enemies by using Combustion or Meteor Strike if you have a full stack and it’s off cooldown.
  5. Refresh Barrier for the shield and extra AoE hit if needed.

If you don’t have the correct RavenCards then this will not perform with maximum effect.
