Skills

Shield Bash
Use Shield to bash the target, dealing Physical DMG equal to 160% of your ATK +373, increasing your Physical DEF by 74 for 6sec and granting you 9 Toughness.

Shield Assault
Use Shield to launch an attack, dealing Physical DMG equal to 219% of your ATK +516, and granting 12 Resilience. In the next 8sec, your Glancing Chance will be boosted by 18%. If Glancing is not triggered during this period, Glancing Chance will be increased until Glancing is triggered.

Sturdy Barrier
Turn Toughness into a Barrier that absorbs DMG equal to 12% +1679 if your max HP for 10sec.
Remaining Shield Value will be included in a new effect when skill is recast.

Storm Trample
Step on the ground, dealing Physical DMG equal to 121% of your ATK +199 to enemies within 5m and reducing their MoveSpd by 20% for 2sec.
Casting the skill grants you 5 Resilience. Each time a target is hit, 1 Resilience will be added additionally up to 5.
Every time the skill hits a target, the cooldown is reduced by 1sec.

Impenetrable
Form a Shield to protect you in the next 12sec, reducing DMG taken by 25% and increasing Physical DEF by 435.

Inscribed Stone Skill
The speed of gaining Toughness is significantly increased for 6sec.

Stats

For your stats the main focus should be on the following:

  • Resilience: This will make you immune to being critically hit but it varies between bosses.
  • Stamina: Increases HP and Health Recovery which is important for Tanking.
  • Focus: Increases armor rate for a Tank.
  • Glancing: This is the chance percentage that you have to reduce incoming damage by 25%, soft caps at 42% so focus on this stat via your gear and special aptitude.
  • Cooldown Rate: Decreases global cooldowns, reduces skill cooldowns, increases cast speed. We want this to eventually reach 25% so that our Holy Fire skill can maintain a 100% uptime.
  • Omni: Provides tanks with reduced damage and damage immunity. This only becomes good once it’s over 1855.

Gear

For optimal performance, aim to equip the set gear which is obtainable from Elite Raids. This provides valuable additional stats and benefits, complementing the usual aptitudes and attributes. Additionally, the weekly reward box from completing the Arcane Realm can also yield set gear pieces.

Make sure to:

  • Fill all gem slots on your gear to maximize stats.
  • Empower each piece to enhance its effectiveness.
  • Use the Tempering system to transfer favourable aptitudes and stats from non-set gear onto your set gear.

With Glancing soft capping at 42%, you can use Focus instead on gear.

Special Aptitude

Aim to have a Special Aptitude on all gear pieces. The most beneficial aptitudes enhance your short cooldown skills. For a Barbarian Fighter, prioritize aptitudes that boost Chill Strike, Frost Cross, and Frost Strike, as these skills are frequently used.

Special Aptitudes provide varying benefits depending on the gear piece they are on, allowing you to utilize one of each aptitude across your gear. They also stack, so you can use multiple of the same aptitude for added effect.

All Special Aptitudes offer some benefit, except for Storm Flying Axe. Avoid using this aptitude, as you won’t be utilizing that skill.

When you see the Special Aptitude mention “Echo of Destiny,” it refers to the Fatuina Echo, which is triggered via your Inscribe Stone system. Check the starting node for more information.
