Albion Online Tank Build, MMORPG News

Albion Online – New Player Experience & QoL Ahead of Abyssal Depths

Set to launch June 30, the Abyssal Depths update overhauls the onboarding process for newcomers. Albion Journal now features a “First Steps” section, guiding players along PvE, PvP, or gathering paths. Tutorials are being made more digestible with trimmed text, reduced crafting hoops, and improved pacing. Added conveniences include Tier 3 mob tracking, milestone markers, and a “showroom” island to sample gear before purchases, an effort to prevent new players from feeling lost in the sandbox.

BitCraft – Early Access Deferred to June 27

BitCraft has postponed its planned Early Access launch from June 20 to June 27, due to Steam’s delayed approval of the build. The developers admitted they couldn’t afford any further delays and opted to shift the date rather than risk a launch day hiccup. While disappointing for fans, the extra week should help ensure a stable release experience.

Greatsword Games Studios – $5 Million Seed Funding for “Project: Crimson” MMORPG

Greatsword Games Studios has officially kicked off a $5 million seed funding round to support the development of its first large-scale MMORPG, Project: Crimson. The fantasy MMO is being built from the ground up with a heavy focus on player agency, community collaboration, and dynamic class customisation.

Founded by solo developer and storyteller Brian Strigel, the studio has grown into a small volunteer-led team that’s now ready to scale. The funds will support hiring a core team of 15 full-time developers, artists, and support staff, with the goal of delivering a playable alpha build and launching Kickstarter campaigns by 2026.

Project: Crimson is set in a newly imagined fantasy realm on the continent of Arenti, home to three culturally distinct kingdoms. The game introduces modular class systems, evolving weapons that gain new traits over time, and a flexible approach to progression where players can mix and match skills, gear, and roles. A unique “geographical layering” system is also planned, allowing the world to change and evolve with development.

What makes this project stand out is its early adopter model—players will gain access during development and directly influence the direction of the game through feedback and shared narrative goals. Greatsword Games says it’s targeting underserved MMORPG fans looking for meaningful long-term progression and deeper character expression.
