The MMORPG Daily Drop - Your Daily MMORPG News Recap
July is kicking off with a wave of MMORPG updates across the genre. From Albion Online’s PvP-heavy Abyssal Depths release to SWTOR’s long-awaited roadmap reveal and a major engine milestone for City of Titans, there’s plenty to dive into today. Let’s take a look at all the biggest news stories in the MMO space for July 1, 2025.

Albion Online: Abyssal Depths Update Goes Live
Albion Online’s Abyssal Depths update is finally here, and it’s loaded with PvP content and big improvements to the new player experience. The update introduces a more refined tutorial system, a new “First Steps” journal with three tailored playstyles (Adventurer, Duelist, and Gatherer), and a brand-new type of dungeon called The Depths. These collapsing hell-themed dungeons offer fast-paced, small-group PvP battles where you don’t lose equipped gear, only your inventory, striking a balance between full-loot and no-risk PvP.
New PvP hubs, called Antiquarian’s Dens, serve as gateways to The Depths, Hellgates, and Corrupted Dungeons. There’s also a PvP progression system with new spider mount pets, crests, and exclusive loot. Quality-of-life changes, UI improvements, and two new Crystal Weapons round out the patch.
City of Titans Nears Online Play Milestone
The Q2 update from Missing Worlds Media confirms that the team is working to finalize a build in Unreal Engine 5.6, which includes a new rendering pipeline, improved performance (including reportedly doubled framerates), and small additions like enhanced city details and animations.
This upgrade lays the groundwork for the next major step: introducing online multiplayer. A new game server is already set up, and once the UE5.6 build is finalized, the team plans to assemble those components and bring City of Titans into a playable online state.
There’s no confirmed timeline just yet, as the volunteer-led project has faced some delays due to real-life challenges among the devs. Still, much of the infrastructure is reportedly in place, and the team is optimistic that the path to online play is finally coming together.

Following recent character upgrades and the Dynamic Worlds patch, the next livestream (date TBA) will finally unveil a detailed story roadmap, including long-awaited updates like Galactic Threads and Master’s Enigma. DirectX 12 testing is also underway, and Rattataki characters are getting their glow-up soon.
