Welcome to The Tank Club’s Ultimate Dragonknight Tank Build and Guide! In this comprehensive guide for the ESO Dragonknight Tank, we cover everything you need to know to master this class. We provide detailed information on the best skills to use, a thorough overview of all Dragonknight skills and passives, and the buffs they offer.
Welcome to The Tank Club’s Endless Archive Tank Build: a setup designed to help you survive and progress through this challenging, 1-2 player endless arena in The Elder Scrolls Online.
In Arc 1 and Arc 2, a hybrid approach works well, allowing Tanks to contribute more damage while maintaining control. Our Accolade Hybrid Dragonknight and Arcanist Spell Guard builds excel in these early stages, blending Tanking and DPS for efficient progression.
However, from Arc 3 onward, enemies become significantly stronger, requiring a more defensive and sustain-focused build. Unlike traditional group tanking, Endless Archive Tanking is more self-reliant, with less emphasis on group buffs since you’re only supporting one other player.
This build is tailored for duo runs, ensuring you have the sustain, survivability, and crowd control needed to handle the increasing difficulty while allowing your partner to focus on damage output.
Race: Nord helps you easily reach the resistance cap, crucial for enduring DoT and Bleed damage and big hitting mechanics without excessive focus on buffing resistances.
Mundus: The Atronach is essential for Magicka Recovery, aiming for around 2500 to sustain all abilities.
Food:
Potions:
Resistances: Aim for the 33,100 cap using Major & Minor Resolve, Passives, Champion Points, Reinforced gear, or a Defending One-Handed Weapon to mitigate the majority of incoming damage.
Magicka Recovery: Ensure a minimum of 2500 Magicka Recovery to maintain 100% uptime on skills, buffs, and debuffs. More recovery allows frequent use of abilities like Igneous Shield.

The gear options we’ve selected focus on giving us the best possible benefit while still offering a bit of utility to the other member of the group. Drake’s Rush will give a ton of Ultimate which means you’re able to Magma Shell more often for survival which also gives your teammate a damage shield, this will also give you a stack of resources via the Battle Roar passive.
Potentates also assists on this too with reducing the cost of your Ultimate. Pearlescent Ward provides a nice aura and big range DPS buff but it’s strength is in the survival tool it offers, giving a 66% damage reduction buff to either you or your teammate if one of you dies which can help you to recover a fight.
With space left for a Mythic, Bloodlord’s Embrace is an option as it gives a lot of Magicka and this is the biggest resource you’ll be needing, especially on the hard bosses and marauders.
Optionally you could use Archdruid for a great enemy debuff or Engine Guardian if you want something more for yourself. If you struggle for healing then the Master Weapons Puncturing Remedy will be a big assistance with that.
Elfbane is another 5-piece gear set that can be used to extend the duration of Magma Shell.
If you have the Elder Scrolls Online Gold Road chapter, you’ll have access to the Scribing system. This system allows you to create skills to optimize your setup. These skills can be customized to suit your individual needs, though the following are suggested options.
