The Winter Convergence is here in New World

I’m here to tell you everything you need to know about the event, especially as a Tank!
So firstly, you’ll want to travel to one of the 4 Winter Villages in Brightwood, Weavers Fen, Monarch Bluffs, Everfall and pick up the quest and make sure to complete the short questline that guides you through what the event is all about.
While at the Winter Villages – next to the Winter Wanderer is a bountiful gift sack which you can open once a day and you can collect these at all 4 Winter Villages so make sure to travel round and collect them.
At each faction-controlled town you’ll also be able to collect rewards from the tree of light – there are 12 faction-controlled towns so travel to each one to collect your daily reward. These rewards reset daily at 5am CET. You’ll also obtain Diamon Gypsum from the first 6 you collect.
The easiest way to do this event is by killing the Winter Warrior boss. When killing the boss, you’ll gain event reputation along with Warriors Hailspikes which can be converted into event tokens at the Winter Villages by visiting the Holiday Hut’s. To obtain premium tokens you’ll need Vials of Suspended Azoth as well as 25 event tokens.
You need to earn event reputation to unlock the best rewards and the easiest way as mentioned already is by killing the Winter Warrior. You get 250 reputation for each kill and once you get to 9000 reputation you unlock the top tier rewards.
This event is a very good event for new players or people on the fresh start servers especially. You’ll be able to obtain patterns that allow you to craft gold 600 gearscore gear and you also don’t need to have your armouring levelled up to craft the gear.
These patterns each cost 2 premium event tokens (or 50 regular tokens + 2 Vials of Suspended Azoth).
The event gear will cost you approximately 3500 gold per piece to craft, so 17500 gold for a full 5-piece set. The question is, is it worth it?
Well for Tanks, the Heavy Armor may will be of some use, and it’s possibly worth picking up the Medium and Light patterns if you have chance.
The perks you’re going to get on the Heavy Armor includes Elemental Aversion, Corrupted Ward and Luck with your choice of Attribute stats. So for anyone new to the game, new to Tanking or a Tank without a good set of gear, even Tanks that might be wanting to get into Mutated Expeditions that include Corrupt enemies, this could be a worthwhile set to use.
This is a good way for you to find a very easily obtainable Corrupted Ward set. The fact the set has luck on it isn’t great, but if you are a new player, it will have the benefit of helping you to actually pickup and loot better gear especially if you’re also using 3x Luck Trophies in your houses (even the basic ones). But it’s definitely a good starter Corrupted Ward set.
Looking at the Shields and Weapons, if you have time during the event then feel free to collect the patterns but they don’t seem very good at all for PvE Tanks they are themed pieces that don’t really have a lot of use.
The Tower Shield has the perks Sure Footing, Frozen Shield Ward and Refreshing Ward so not great, and all the weapons have Chain Ice, Vicious and Keenly Jagged, so again not much use for a PvE Tank.
The gear in this event is by no means best in slot but it’s an easy way to get yourself setup so you can begin doing more difficult content with a reasonably useful set. Once you upgrade this to a better Corrupted Ward Tank Set, you’ll at least still have the benefit of having a full set of gold Luck gear that you can still Tank in while also farming things you might need and maintain some of your Tankyness while doing so.
