ESO Sunspire Trial
Welcome to The Tank Club: ESO Sunspire Trial Guide for Tanks.
Sunspire is a DLC 12-person trial located in Northern Elsweyr. It was the eight trial that was introduced into The Elder Scrolls Online with the Elsweyr Chapter in June 2019. This was the first trial to be introduced with hardmodes for each individual boss fight.
This trial can be completed on Normal or Veteran and has 3 Dragon bosses each with their own Veteran Hardmode.
This guide will focus on the Tank role and the mechanics and strategies for successfully completing this trial.

ESO Sunspire Trial Tank Builds
Main Tanks
This is the gear you might be asked to use for this trial as the Main Tank:
- Sets: Claw of Yolnahkriin, Crimson Oath’s Rive, Pearlescent Ward, Turning Tide.
- Monster Sets: Archdruid Devyric, Encratis’s Behemoth, Nazaray, Tremorscale.
Off Tanks
This is the gear you might be asked to use for this trial as the Off Tank:
- Sets: Crimson Oath’s Rive, Pearlescent Ward, Powerful Assault, Saxhleel Champion.
- Monster Sets: Archdruid Devyric, Encratis’s Behemoth.
- Other: Spaulder of Ruin.
ESO Sunspire Trial Skills
Essential Skills for this Trial:
When Tanking Lokkestiiz you can range Tank, you do this by standing at the back of the arena and cast Defensive Stance to reflect the damage back at the boss. You shouldn’t use any shields that absorb damage, use this skill that reflects it.
On Yolnahkriin you’ll need a pull/chain for the Flame Atronachs.
On last boss Immovable can be used, mainly on hardmode so you can stand in a negate without being stunned during the breath mechanic.
Off Tanks will find Race Against Time useful on the last boss hardmode when dealing with the statues. Efficient Purge is also useful on Lokkestiiz hardmode to remove the debuff from your group members.
