The build we setup is a standard Tank build, we created a base build that used Jewellery that wouldn’t impact any important stats. We then created multiple jewellery of the same set but with a variety of different traits and enchants so we could compare which is most effective to use.
We then looked at everything regarding what skills would be used, how many times you might need to cast them within 60 seconds of a boss fight and then calculated the cost of using the skills checking all options including the base setup values as well as considering reduced cost amounts.
Then we looked at all of the incoming resource gains from all sources that return resources including passives, skills, recovery and more. We’ve also included all of the setups receiving an Orb synergy on cooldown so it doesn’t sway results in favour of a certain setup.
This spreadsheet looks complicated because trying to work this out is pretty complicated. But we have provided details here based upon a number of things, we’ve included the Stamina cost of trying to maintain Stone Giant, we’ve included the Stamina Recovery gain of only blocking for 1s every 5s and losing 10 recovery ticks because of that, but we’ve also included the options to see what the difference would be if you didn’t have any Stamina Recovery and also if you decided to not maintain Stone Giant.
This is more of a perfect fight situation however, in reality you might cast less skills, you might cast them more often, you might block more or less hits, its hard to create a dynamic spreadsheet that applies to every individual situation.
Conclusions
From the situation we have created in the spreadsheet you can see that using an Infused Magicka Recovery is a good option when not blocking much or when not trying to maintain Stone Giant. The incoming Magicka compared to the Magicka usage is huge. You have an almost 30k surplus of Magicka per minute which means you could cast additional Igneous Shields or self healing if it was required and this would not cause an issue, plus this would provide even more Stamina from the Helping Hands passive. If you needed to chain additional enemies you’d have the additional incoming Magicka to do so.
When it comes to the Infused Tri-Cost Reduction setup – rather than having a huge surplus of Magicka you have a more balanced amount of both Stamina and Magicka. If you are blocking a lot and trying to maintain Stone Giant, you’d have an easier time with this option rather than the Infused Magicka Recovery. Using this setup relies on skill casting frequently and having enough recovery to back it up, but 2.1k Magicka Recovery is enough to sustain all of the skill uptimes in this scenario.
Infused Magicka Cost Reduction is the worst setup of all of the tested here, it’s focus is on Magicka and using Infused Magicka Recovery provides way more benefit than Cost Reduction in this scenario.
Next we had Harmony Magicka Recovery with the new Harmony adjustment providing us extra resources. This is all based upon using just one synergy, specifically the Orb synergy and using it on cooldown once every 20 seconds. The only time this is outperformed is when blocking and receiving no Stamina from recovery while trying to also maintain Stone Giant, you’ll consume slightly less Stamina with an Infused Tri-Cost Reduction setup, but gain a lot more Magicka with Harmony, with an additional gain of Health.
Finally we tried Harmony Tri-Cost Reduction and this was the best performer with regards to Stamina sustain. You’ll have a huge surplus of Stamina compared with every other setup and this is a good thing because you need to account for situations where you may block for longer or block more hits or potentially need to roll dodge. For new Tanks who might permablock and not use Stone Giant you basically have a 19k surplus of Stamina per minute in this setup and if you’re a Tank who blocks infrequently and uses Stone Giant you’d have over 22k surplus Stamina.
If we added additional synergies, every setup would gain a slight increase from the Undaunted Command but the Harmony setup begins to blow all of the other out of the water with each additional synergy added. If you perma-blocked and got no Stamina Recovery, with 2 synergies on cooldown you could maintain this rotation with a surplus to Stamina using Harmony Cost Reduction Jewellery.
